Ferrets at Elmer's

The Ferrets we sell at Elmer’s are bred at Marshals Ferret Farm in New York. They have been neutered and de-scented, and have their first set of shots.  We will give you an owners guide and warranty card with your purchase.  New shipments of young, healthy ferrets are received weekly.

How old are the ferrets you sell?
The ferrets at Elmer's are about 8 weeks old.

How long do ferrets live?
Ferrets generally live around 7 years.

How many ferrets should I buy?
Ferrets can be kept individually or in pairs or groups.  They are friendly animals that usually get along very well with other ferrets.

What is the gestation period and number of young?
Gestation lasts about 6 weeks.  Mother ferrets usually have between 6 and a dozen babies at a time.

What do ferrets eat?
A complete ferret food should be your pet's staple diet.  Yogurt drops make good treats (and can also be good training aids.)

Why do ferrets make great pets?
Ferrets are very fun, friendly and energetic animals.  Their playful nature will be sure to keep you entertained.  They are also very loving of their owners and will enjoy spending time with you.
