General:  An interesting addition to a community tank. Once adapted they are hardy and long-lived.  They are bottom dwellers that should be given some hiding spots.

Compatibility:  Peaceful with fish of similar size although they are somewhat territorial and quarrelsome among themselves.  Do not mix with small fish such as neons.  Fish that go well with elephant noses: Community #2, Community #4

Notes:  These fish have unusually large brains and feeble electric organs in the tail. They are native to Africa. 

Feeding:  Feeds from the bottom, feed shrimp, tubifex worms, and frozen bloodworms.  They will enjoy some live worms that we sell on occasion.
