General: Average cichlid temperament. They display vivid colors when in prime conditions. Juveniles can be kept in groups, but adults are best as singles. Adults are very territorial, they will defend their turf against newcomers- especially fish that are of similar body shape. They are very tolerant of low temperatures.
They come from Northern Mexico.
Diet: Like most cichlids they will accept a variety of foods such as cichlid pellets, cichlid flakes, frozen foods, krill. Feed young fish 2-3 times daily. Adults can be fed 1-2 times a day.
