Housing and Tank Mates;  A colorful South American cichlid.  They can be mixed in a Cichlid community tank with similar size Firemouth Cichlids,  Jack dempseys and Convicts.  Provide lots of room and rocks for hiding.   It is  prone to hiding when in with very aggressive fish.  Under optimal conditions they will develop lots of gold and red coloration. Adult females are more colorful.  Keep as singles or groups of 4 or more.

Diet:  Like most cichlids they will accept a variety of foods such as cichlid pellets, cichlid flakes, frozen foods, krill.
