General:  A feisty cichlid .  It can defend itself against bigger fish.  They are easy to breed.  Females  are smaller than males with rounded fins and reddish zones on the abdomen.  Provide hiding spots and caves.  You can mix them with similar sized firemouths, jack dempseys, and other South American cichlids

Varieties:  There are two major color varieties:
* Pink Convict
* Blue Convict   (Striped) 

Diet:  Like most cichlids they will accept a variety of foods such as cichlid pellets, cichlid flakes, frozen foods, krill.  Feed young fish 2-3 times daily.  Adults can be fed 1-2 times a day.
