Ram Cichlids and other Apistogramma Dwarf Cichlids

General: Apistogramma is a genus of dwarf
cichlids from South America. Most are
small peaceful fish.
Comptatibility and tank-mates: They are shy and peaceful fish
They do best in tanks with other dwarf cichlids. Schools of tetras or ram
cichlids make suitable tank mates.
Tank Conditions: Provide rocks, plants and hiding spots. Keep water warm
and slightly acidic (6.4-6.8). An ideal setup would contain plants,
driftwood, and cave hideaways. These fish are suitable
for small tanks 6-15 gallon. Keep pH 6.5- 7.0
Ram Cichlids: These fish are the most common apistrogramma
cichlids. They come a a few different aquarium bred color varieties.
Males are more colorful.
Tank Suggestion: Try a 6 or 12 gallon Marineland Eclipse
Tank. These tanks have a built-in filter and have a strong enough light to
grow some live plants. Decorate with plants, shale rocks, driftwood.
You can keep 4 or 5 cichlids, some corydoras catfish, and a few other fish.
Diet: Feed flakes, shrimp, bloodworms. They will accept a variety of foods. They have small mouths and bite size micro foods. Feed 2-3 times a day.
