Corydoras Catfish
These are popular varieties of aquarium cats. They are hardy, active, very peaceful and highly recommended for beginners. Corydoras cats are members of the family Callichthyidae. The fish in this family are covered by 2 rows of overlapping bony plates. They also have (like other catfish) a sharp spine on the first ray of the dorsal and pectoral fins. This protects them very well from most aquarium predators. They are native to the Amazon river basin. Many cats are now bred in Florida. Corydoras cats like to swim in groups. They constantly search the gravel for food. Like other members of this family they will occasionally come to the surface for a gulp of air. Although they are difficult to sex, if observed from directly above the female will appear fuller bodied. These fish are daylight feeders. Compatibility: Fish that go well
