Banjo Catfish

General:  A peaceful scavenger that remains motionless and hides during the day.

Size: to 5"

Housing:  Keep in tanks of 10 gal or more with plenty of hiding spots.  If the gravel is fine they may bury themselves.  Temperature 75-80.  Rocks, caves, driftwood,  plastic or live plants, make them feel more secure. Avoid sharp objects such as sharp gravel.  Tanks with driftwood and live plants are good choices.

Diet: feed a variety of flakes, bloodworms, brine shrimp, mysis shrimp.  Greens are important, some spirulina based flakes or tablets are recommended.

Tank Mates:  Best with small peaceful fish such as small tetras, dwarf corydoras cats, white clouds, mollies.  Avoid tanks with extremely active fish that may make it difficult for them to feed.

Scientific Name: Bunocephalu sp.  Family Aspredinidae  Several species are sold under the name "Banjo" cat.
