Pantodon buchholzi 4" 75-80 1 or more B

General:  A surface dwelling fish. This fish's unusual shape makes it an interesting addition to a community tank.

Compatibility:  These fish can be predatory toward small fish such as guppies or neons.  They do not bother fish swimming in the middle or bottom areas.  They are usually compatible with similar size fish.  Suitable tank mates include gouramis, angelfish, kribensis, ropefish, cory catfish, swordtails.  Other suitable tank mates include many of the fish in our Community #3, Community #4 tanks. They should not be mixed with aggressive fish.     They can be quarrelsome among themselves so give them plenty of room.  You can keep 2 or 3 in a 30 gallon tank.

Tank Conditions:  They should have calm, clean  waters (avoid strong power filters at the water surface), and some floating vegetation.    These fish are jumpers and require a tight cover.

Feeding:  Feed once or twice a day. They enjoy whole or chopped worms, frozen shrimp, frozen bloodworms, Formula 1, mosquito larvae, small crickets, or live guppies.  They eat from the surface.  In our store we feed freeze-dried plankton which they take from the surface.

Natural Habitat:  Africa

Longevity: 4 years.
